DISCOVERY CLUBS NEEDS YOU!

Volunteers are the hands and feet of Discovery Clubs. Without our committed volunteers, this ministry cannot go into the local mission field of our public schools and preach the Gospel.

Consider this volunteer opportunity as a "mission trip" to share the gospel with children within your own community or city. Many of the children who attend Discovery Clubs do not attend church and have never heard the Gospel, and many are experiencing very difficult life situations. Since the clubs are freely offered, hundreds of precious children attend (900 attended in 2007/08).

In Acts 1:8, the basic message is we should first be witnesses within our own community and then to the uttermost parts of the earth.
Jesus also said in Matthew 19:14, "Let the little children come to me and do not forbid them, for such is the kingdom of heaven."
As a volunteer for Discovery Clubs, you can go into the world, you can be a witness within your own community, and you can be a part of enabling these precious children to come to Jesus!

In Mark 16:15, Jesus said "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." Our public schools are certainly part of the world, as God, the Bible, and prayer have been removed. God has provided an open door for us to take the Gospel to these precious children at their local school campus through our after-school Bible clubs.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Attend a 2-hour Training annually (several training dates & times offered)
  • Commit to 1.5 hours per week at a school of your choice for 23 weeks (we are currently in 14 schools throughout Birmingham, Jefferson, and Shelby counties covering grades 2-5 & are continuing to add more schools each year)
  • Provide your own transportation to & from the school

We make it easy for our volunteers by providing:

  • Training
  • Bible-centered Curriculum, Supplies & Materials
  • Support through our part-time staff, club directors & supervisors
  • A Volunteer Team - You do not have to "go" alone. You will be a part of a team of volunteers including a teacher and 3 mentors.
